Department of Engineering and Technology ,celebrates International Women's Day
On the important occasion of international women’s day department of Engineering and Technology, GNDU RC Jalandhar organised a tremendous event to highlight the importance of this day. This event was inaugurated with profound speech delivered by Dr Harmandar Kaur highlighting the role of women in society and with emphasis on the aspects of women empowerment which was the theme of this event. The event was graced by special guest of honour Dr Deepkamal Randhawa, Er Neena Madan, Dr Sheetal Kalra, Dr Pankaj Deep Kaur, Dr Himali, Dr Neetika Soni, Dr Vinit Dhaliwal and Dr Varinder Attri were also present in the event. Various activities like Poster making , Extempore, poetical recitation and Dances were organised for commemoration of the event. Students showed a lot of zeal and gained a lot of knowledge in terms of women nutrition, women rights and women safety issues.
G.N.D.U Regional Campus, Jalandhar celebrates International Women’s Day
On the eve of International Women’s Day, March 8, 2001, a webinar was organized under the guidance of Dr. Rupam Jagota, Head of Department, (Associate Professor) in the Department of Laws, G.N.D.U R.C Jalandhar, on the theme, “Changing Contours of women’s Rights”. Shri Jaapinder Singh, C.J.M-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jalandhar delivered the key note address. He highlighted the practical aspects of issues relating to women ensuring legal justice as well as the use of mediation and conciliation in justice delivery system. He depicted two stories relating to women with special reference to custody rights of children and protection of women from sexual harassment at their work places. Prof. (Dr.) Jyoteesh Malhotra ,Associate Dean contributed their views on this event. Dr. Varinder Singh, Assistant Professor, gave the vote of thanks to all the dignatories and other faculty members along with the students. The event was moderated by Dr. Vanita Khanna and attended by other faculty members.
GNDU students clear PCS exam
Six students of GNDU, Department of Laws, Regional Campus, Ladhewali, Jalandhar have cleared PCS Judicial examination (2019-20), the result of which was declared on February 1, 2021. The students who cleared the examination are Jasika Vij, Daughter of Devinder Vij, LL.B (2005-2008),and LL.M (2010-2012), Keshav Agnihotri, Son of GK Agnihotri, BA, LL.B (2008 to 2013), Simran, Daughter of Baldev Parkash, BA, LLB (2013-2018) and LLM, (2018-19), Parveen, Son of Bakshish Singh, BA, LLB (2013-2018) and LLM (2018-19), Jaskiran Sondh, Daughter of Sharnpal Singh, BA, LLB (2013-18), LLM (2018-19), Shivani, Daughter of Nirmaljit, LLB, (2014-2017). Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar, Dr. Rupam Jagota, Head, Department of Laws and all the faculty members congratulated the successful candidates and wished them success in future. Dr. Rupam Jagota said their perseverance and dedication to achieve their goal is worth appreciating. The campus Alumini has always made us proud. Previously also number of students of GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar has qualified the PCS (Judiciary) and is currently serving as judicial officers in various districts of Punjab.
Induction Programme 2020
On 7th October 2020 ,Engineering and technology department, GNDU campus Jalandhar organised induction programme for the new batch 2020. The induction programme was brought in with a view to uplift the level of the new entrants as it was aimed to enhance students’ familiarity with the faculties, its facilities and a plethora of activities of the institution. With a fresh exposure of the induction programme, the students were made familiar to the milieu of the institution with zeal enthusiasm. The induction programme started with a cordial inaugural speech for the entrants with introduction to all the faculty members of GNDU campus Jalandhar. Dr. Hamandar Kaur , Assistant professor aapprised the students about the innumerous university achievements. Later the Head of the Department, Dr. Jyooteesh malhotra warmly welcomed the new batch and briefed them about the examination and evaluation process , activities conducted. After that Dr. Pankaj Deep Kaur , assistant professor described the details about careers and placement at GNDU. Subsequently the alumni of our campus Er. Pargeet Kaur , Er.Sherya Dawar , Er.Karamjeet Singh and Er.Abhishek Sharma interacted with the new students and shared their cherished experiences at GNDU . Then a glimpse of cultural events , sports events and various club activities was displayed. At the end Oath taking ceremony was held to inculcate the feeling of affinity. The programme concluded with a thank you note. The induction programme 2020 was successfully organised under the guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra , Head of Department coordinated by Dr. Harmandar Kaur , assistant professor and Er Neetika Soni, assistant professor with students -Neha Uppal , Sukriti Marwaha , Mehardeep Sethi and Nehal Sharma.
International Day of Non Violence Celebrated
As we all know that Mahatma Gandhi has been given the title of ‘Father of India’ as he took up the path of non-violence to fulfil his goals. An international organisation like United Nations General Assembly has marked his birth anniversary as the International Day of Non-Violence which is October 2. Students participated in the celebrations of this day of national importance to spread awareness about the great teachings of the timeless thought leader who contributed to our independence.

Bhumika Aatri bagged the first position in both the events, Pranshu Sharma won the second place in sketching while Aanshu Chibber won the second position in poster making. The event was coordinated by Dr. Harmandar Kaur and was organised under the able guidance of the Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra, Head of the Department of Engineering and Technology.
GNDU tops India today ranking-2020 in North India
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar (GNDU) has been adjudged as the only State Government University in North India to bag top position amongst higher education institutes for “India Today Ranking 2020”. No higher education institute of Jammu, Kashmir, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan or Chandigarh could attain any position even among the first 35 positions in the State Public Universities imparting education in arts, science and technology disciplines. Overall, GNDU is ranked 20th among all central, public and private Universities in the country. However, it has retained its position at 11th place among the State Universities of India in 2020. GNDU, a premier institute for higher education in India, is ranked among the top 10 state public universities and top 9% universities of the world by the World University Ranking. The University has continuously improved its position in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the past three years. It is ranked as the top State Public University of Punjab and 51st among all the central, public and private Universities that participated in the NIRF-2020 ranking. Vice Chancellor Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu said that GNDU has improved its overall marks from 71 per cent in 2019 to 74 per cent in 2020 in the overall score of India Today ranking parameters. He said that it is the dedication and devotion of the faculty and staff towards teaching, research and other endeavours that has been lifting the University to new peaks.
GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar conducted an online seminar on “Parameter of Research Paper”
Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus Jalandhar has conducted an online seminar on “Parameter of Research Paper” on May 4, 2020. There were around 100 faculty members, research scholars, professionals and students from various universities and institutions across north India join the online interaction. Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra Associate Dean highlight the requirement of e-learning platforms and online education mode for skill enhancement in the current unprecedented situation of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown. He expressed his gratitude to the worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu for constant support and encouragement. The key speaker Prof (Dr.) Rattan Singh, Director UILS Panjab University Chandigarh gave a detailed and comprehensive view on how to write a good research paper. He covered the various essentials to cover the research work and discussed in detail the importance of literature review, title, research problem and objective statement, hypothesis and research methodologies. He emphasized on research ethics and to avoid plagiarism which are usually ignored by researchers. Programme coordinators Dr Varinder Singh and Dr Butta Singh thank the resource person and all the participants to make the event a success.
Engineering Department GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar organises online workshop on 'Digital Marketing' for students
Engineering & Technology Department, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar organised an online learning workshop on "Digital marketing" in collaboration with Coding Blocks, Delhi on 26th May 2020. The workshop was aimed at skill enhancement of the students of B.Tech Electronics & Computer Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering branches. The workshop was successfully organised under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean and was coordinated by Dr.Harmandar Kaur Assistant Professor, Engineering and Technology Department and Tanmay Dewan, Ayush Khanna student coordinators. The students showed a lot of enthusiasm and more than 180 attended the same. Digital marketing is the use of the Internet, mobile devices, social media, search engines, and other channels to reach consumers. Google AdWords, is Google's advertising system in which advertisers bid on certain keywords in order for their clickable ads to appear in Google's search results. Google Analytics is a free website analytics service offered by Google that gives you insights into how users find and use your website. Overall the participants were enthralled and appreciated this initiative of the department for knowledge enhancement in these pressing times. The role of e-learning and online education in the skill development of the students is essential in these testing times.
Engineering Department of GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar organises online workshop for students
Engineering & Technology Department GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar organises an online Project based learning workshop on "Machine Learning" in collaboration with Coding Blocks, Delhi on 12th May, 2020. The workshop was aimed at skill enhancement of the students of B. Tech Electronics & Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering & Electronics & Communication Engineering branches. Machine Learning is a prominent and upcoming application of Artificial Intelligence that provides systems the ability to automatically learn. Also, the industry has a huge demand for professionals trained in this field. The workshop was successfully organised under the able guidence of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean and was coordinated by Dr. Harmander Kaur, Asst. Professor, Engineering & Technology Department and Ayush Khanna student coordinator for the event. The students showed a lot enthusiasm and more than 110 benefitted from this event while learning from their homes. Overall the participants including students were enthralled and appreciated this initiative of the department for knowledge enhancement in this pressing times. The role of e-learning and online education in the skill development of the students is essential in this testing times.
Panel Discussion on International Women’s Day
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, in collaboration with the Department of Laws, organized a Panel Discussion in the context of International Women’s Day on March 8 . The participants were Sarita Tiwari, renowned actor, academician and writer, Aparna Bannerji from The Tribune, Poonam Lagah from All India Radio and Harleen Kaur, Advocate. The issue was Women’s Rights and their Status.
World Radio Day celebrated at GNDU Media Dept.
On February 13 , World Radio day was celebrated in the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication. An RJing competition was organized in which students of various classes participated. Two rounds were held; one where students spoke on given topics and a phone in round where students handled calls by the listeners. Manish Kumar of M.A Journalism & Mass Communication Part –I was the winner of the competition.
70th Anniversary of The Constitution of India celebrated
To commemorate the 70th Anniversary of The Constitution of India, Poster Making Competition - theme 'Promotion and conservation of Natural Environment' and Debate - 'Fundamental Duties vis -a- vis Fundamental Rights' was organised on 6 March 2020, by Department of Laws, GNDU, RC, Jalandhar in collaboration with the DLSA, Jalandhar. Cash awards won by students in inter-college competitions
The students of GNDU RC Jalandhar participated enthusiastically in various events held at various colleges and brought laurels to the college lately. On 27th February 2020, the students participated in “Plasma 2020”, a technical fest organized at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar and won 1st prize in IT Quiz and 3rd prize in PowerPoint presentation. Fifteen teams of 3 members each participated in the prelims, out of which four teams were shortlisted for the prime quiz and the winners, Ayush Khanna, Neha Uppal and Pranshu Sharma of B.Tech CSE 2nd year were awarded a team trophy and a cash prize of ₹ 1,500 while Sachin Mehta and Mohit Heer of the same class competed with eleven teams and bagged 3rd position. On 28th February 2020, Chetanjeev Singh Bains and Vaibhav Chadha of B.Tech CSE 3rd year won third prize in Net Savvy out of 17 teams at “Spark 2020”, a mega event held at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus. On 29th February 2020, the dance team won 1st prize in group dance at “KMV IT Euphoria”. Six teams representing various colleges participated in this dance event, out of which five teams performed Bhangra, however, the semi-classical dance performance won the judges’ hearts, the team consisted of Dishari D Tarafdar of B.Tech CSE 1st year, Nehal Sharma, Pooja Kukreja and Shreya Sharma of B.Tech CSE 2nd year.
FIRST EVER MEDIA CAMP BY GNDU MEDIA DEPARTMENT
The Department of Journalism &Mass Communication organized first ever Media Camp at Regional Campus on October 20. It was to mark the occasion of 30 years of the Department since 1989 when it came into being. The Media Camp was first of its kind. The day started with yoga and exercises for the students. It was followed by current affairs and news analysis segment which was headed by Dr Kamlesh Singh Duggal OSD (Officer on Special Duty) at Guru Nanak Dev University College. Ms. Avneet Kaur from The Tribune, Jalandhar and Jatinder Singh faculty member moderated the discussion which revolved around issues including Article 370, Kartarpur Corridor etc. Later, Ms. Shaina Kochar from Raunak Events spoke about the scope of Event management in cities like Jalandhar. Students were much interested in this field and enthusiastic to know much more about it. In the Post Lunch session, Mr.Arun deep from “People’s Voice” elaborated about genre of documentary and art of reading films. The evening was spent playing fun games and the day concluded with songs and dances by the students. Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department while addressing the students informed that the Department has completed 30 years of existence as pioneer in this field. It is also the first to introduce the concept of ‘Media Fest’ in this region. She further added that the Department wishes to transform this idea into a bigger event in the coming years. Through this Media Camp, the students were able to spend more time with each other as compare to the routine working days. Ms. Sukriti, Ms. Savita, Mr. Jatinder and Mr. Rama Shankar were also present on the occasion.
GNDU Regional Campus Celebrates National Science Day
SCIGAUGE 2020, commenced in the Engineering and Technology Department from 26 Feb 2020 to 28 Feb 2020 to mark the celebration of National Science Day. It was an amalgamation of literary, art and techincal events to bring out the best in students and to explore their intellectual and creative potential. The inauguration ceremony commenced with the motivational words from Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Assoiciate Dean and honourable faculty members graced the event. Dr Narmata Joshi, assistant professor and head of department, Journalism and Mass Communication along with Mrs Deepa Katyal, Assistant Professor, were the special guests. Dr Harmandar Kaur Assistant Professor coordinated the event. Themes for the event were Great scientists and inventions, Technologies of the future, Women in science. The events included Mind it, a technical quiz which was nerve wrecking. This was followed by Techorator a declamation contest in which students enthusiastically participated and reflected on the various themes of the day. Finally, results were announced and deserving students were awarded with certificates and trophies. The students participated wholeheartedly and contributed to newer ideas and innovations.
Lohri Celebration
13 January 2020- Lohri was celebrated at GNDU Regional Campus at Ladhewali here with all fun and fervor. The faculty and students participated enthusiastically in the function. Lohri was lighted amidst Lohri songs. Prayers for a happy and prosperous new year were offered and sweets, peanuts, puffed rice etc. were distributed among those present. Songs and dances on Punjabi folk songs were performed. Later, students danced to DJ. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, greeted everyone and wished them a good year ahead. Dr. Namarta Joshi, Dr. Rupam Jagota, Dr. Deepkamal Randhawa, Dr. Virendra Singh and others were present on the occasion.
Dr Randhawa elected as ISTE member
Dr Deep Kamal Kaur Randhawa, assistant professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, Jalandhar has been elected as member of the National Executive Council of the Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi. She has been elected by life members of the ISTE from the north region. "Being the only national organisation in the field of engineering & technology, the major objective of the society is to contribute to the development of technocrats needed in industry and other organisations," she said. Meanwhile, Dr Randhawa got the best teacher of the state award in 2007 and again honored with a national research award by the ISTE in 2018.
GNDU REGIONAL CAMPUS JALANDHAR ORGANISES SALAHIYAT-E-SHAAM
Salahiyat-e-Shaam, a cultural event held on 5 November, 2019 by the Department of Engineering and Technology under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean Academic Affairs and Student Welfare. Dr. Namrata Joshi, Associate Professor and Head of Journalism and Mass Communication department was the guest of honour. Dr. Sheetal Kalra, Dr. Harmandar Kaur and Dr. Butta Singh graced the event where a number of performances such as bands Contabo and Triple Souls, dance performances Blackfire, Bhangra and many more took place. Audience enjoyed the outstanding performances by the students. It was an enjoyable event which concluded successfully with the prize distribution for technical events Acuity and Technobuzz.
World Photography Day Celebrated
On August 19, in order to mark the World Photography Day, a guest lecture by Mr. Raminder Pal Singh from European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) was organised in the Department.Mr. Raminder Pal Singh in his interaction with the budding photographers talked of aesthetic sense and said that photography has always helped in recording history and preserves the culture for times to come. He further added that younger generation had good eye but social issues need to be addressed through photographs. In his lecture, he also spoke about the qualities of a good Photojournalist and how one can develop the skill of clicking an exclusive and creative photograph. He also discussed the basics of photography and camera with the students.
Fresher Party -Girls Hostel
Fresher party organized at Girls Hostel, GNDU, RC Jalandhar where the students and organisers managed the function with enthusiasm and zeal. Savinder kaur (Law Department) was chosen Miss Fresher, Gursharan Kaur, (Law Department) and Muskan (Department of Engineering & Technology) were chosen Miss Personality and Miss Attire respectively. The honourable judges Dr. Namrata Joshi and Dr. Vanita Khanna awarded the winners and congratulated team GNDU RC Girls Hostel for their efforts.
Mock Placement Drive
The Department of Engineering and Technology of Guru Nanak Dev University Ladhewali, Jalandhar organised a Mock Placement Drive (Acuity 3.0) on 23-09-19 and 24-09-19. A total of over 150 students of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering had participated in Aptitude test, Technical test, Group Discussion rounds and Interviews under the supervision of experts in these area. The event was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Dr. Neetika Soni, Dr. Sheetal Kalra and Dr. Harmandar Kaur. This annual event is organised to inculclate the spirit of competitiveness and preparedness for facing the actual placement drives.
It is truly an honor for us as students of B.Tech CSE have been placed in multinational companies. It is worth mentioning that GNDU has been accredited with "Potential for Excellence" status by UGC. Moreover, GNDU has been awarded with "A++" grade by NAAC. Associate Dean Dr. Jyotish Malhotra, placement incharge Neena Madaan & training incharge Pankajdeep Kaur congratulated students on their success. 16 students of the institute- Priyanka Mishra, Ridham Sharma, Mokshda Sharma, Mahima Sharma, Shreya Davar, Rushali, Tushant Sharma, Nikhil Sharma, Kartik Sharma, Mudit Parmar, Ankit Sharma, Karan Vadhwa, Ridhima Chawla, Aayush Sethi & Gursimrat Singh Randhawa are being placed.
7 Day NSS Camp Organized
NSS department of the campus organized a 7-day Local Camp held in the campus premises from 19-25 July, 2019. The camp witnessed a series of events such as Swachhta Abhiyaan at various places inside and outside the campus, such as Suchhi Pind Railway Station and Communal ground in Rail Vihar. The students also volunteered for World Cancer Care Center at Village Dhadda. Volunteers carried out a Plantation Drive by planting about 50 saplings in college premises. The last day of the camp was dedicated to visiting the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial on Kartarpur Road, Jalandhar. The camp was certainly a huge success, inculcating in students the value of love towards our country. These efforts made by volunteers are just a small step towards the bright future of our nation!
Annual Hostel Night 2019
Annual Hostel Night 2019, was organised under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra on 16 April 2019 which had a blend of events such as cultural dances, poetry, western dances, singing, modelling, fashion show and many more. Dr. Deepkamal Randhawa, Dr. Namrata Joshi, Dr Nirmala Devi, were the revered judges present. Ms. Davinder Kaur (Ph.D) was given the title of Miss Farewell while Ms.Daljit Kaur, Ms. Harwinder Kaur and Ms. Shruti were chosen Miss Well Dressed, Miss Personality and Miss Stylish. Techfest INSIGNIA 2k19
Guru Nanak Dev University R.C.Jalandhar conducted it's annual Techfest INSIGNIA 2019, organized by the department of Engineering and Technology on 11-12 April 2019. A no. of technical, arts, literary, cultural events were conducted to explore the student's social and creative potential. Dr. Narmata Joshi, assistant professor and head of department, Journalism and mass communication along with Dr. Rupam Jagota Sr. assistant professor, Department of laws were the special guests present. The inauguration ceremony of Insignia 2k19 commenced with the lightening of the lamp by the chief guest and honourable faculty members. Annual Techfest of GNDU R.C. Guru Nanak Dev University Improves its NIRF Ranking to 55th
Guru Nanak Dev University has been ranked 55th in the NIRF-2019 ranking, under the category of Universities, as released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development yesterday. This ranks the University among the top 5% Institutes of the country. In the Punjab region, the only other University which ranked higher at 51st position is Punjab Agricultural University which is purely an Agricultural University. Punjabi University, Patiala has been ranked in the band of 151-200.
BLOOD DONATION CAMP
A blood donation camp was organised by students of NSS Unit and Leo Club Jalandhar in Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional campus, Ladhewali, Jalandhar . Civil Hospital's blood bank team, led by Dr. Gagandeep Singh conducted the camp where about 30 students donated blood. Dr.Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean, along with Dr. Deepkamal Randhawa, NSS Coordinator, honoured Dr. Gagandeep, giving a message of Donate blood, donate life!. It was a successful event motivating students about service towards society.
Sports Meet 2019
Sports meet 2019 was organised from April 4 - 6, 2019 successfully under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean, Dr. Dhall, sports in-charge and the campus sports committee at GNDU RC Jalandhar. Sports are an indispensable part of the holistic development of the students as they imbibe the qualities of discipline, teamwork and hard work. The event had a total of around 600 participants showcasing their potential in 14 games from indoor and outdoor spectrum. Cricket, Basketball, Football, Volleyball and Tug of war witnessed maximum participation. Apart from these, many fun games like lemon race, sack race, three leg race, slow bike race were also conducted. Table tennis, Badminton, Chess and Carrom board witnessed a challenging war of nerves. The students had a very good time and the winners were felicitated with medals and certificates to conclude the sports meet. Teachers appreciated the excellent spirit of sportsmanship displayed by the students.
Moot Court and Client Counselling competition
Rayat College of Law, Ropar organized 9th National Moot Court and Client Counselling competition on March 30-31, 2019. Following students from Department of Law, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar participated :

- Client Counselling (Deepkaran Singh Kahlon, Prashant Sharma, Mehak and Ashwani)

Achievers of G.K. Chatrath National Legal and Cultural Fest at Ludhiana
University Institute of Laws, Punjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana had organized 3rd G.K.Chatrath National Legal and Cultural Fest on March 29-30, 2019. Students from Department of Laws, GNDU Regional Campus participated in different events of the Fest. Parth Gandhi won First Prize in Shutter up. Following students participated in different events:

Achievers of Umang-2019 at Kapurthala
On the eve of Golden Jubilee, Hindu Kanya College Kapurthala organized Inter College Mega Fest UMANG -2019 on 15th March. Students of GNDU Regional Campus Jalandhar participated in Quiz: (Akankasha, Jitish, Akshita), Best Out of Waste: (Swarnjit Kaur, Garima), Essay Writing (Alicia), Story Writing (Nandini), Debate (Apoorva, Sukhmanpreet Kaur), Landscape (Alice), Poster Making ( Aman). Nandini won First prize in story writing, Apporva and Sukhmanmanpreet won second in debate.
ISTE National Research Award for GNDU faculty
Dr. Deep Kamal Kaur Randhawa, a senior faculty member in the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus Jalandhar, has been awarded ISTE National Research Award. The Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) is the leading National Professional non-profit making Society for the Technical Education System in our country with the motto of Career Development of Teachers and Personality Development of Students and overall development of our Technical Education System She has been conferred by ISTE, New Delhi at 48th National Annual Faculty Convention-2019 held at Visvesvarya Technical University, Belagavi, Karnataka recently in recognition for her research work on the study of nonmaterial's for sensing toxic gases.
GNDU inks pact for joint collaborations
Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has entered into a partnership with the University of South Florida (USF) to establish a programme of exchange and collaborations including work on entrepreneurship development as well as other related matters of mutual interest. A formal 'MoU' was signed between USF's vice-president professor Roger Brindley and GNDU vice-chancellor Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu recently. The collaboration will increase the number of academic and student exchange opportunities between the institutes.
Painting Competition on Guru Nanak Dev Ji
To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, an on-the-spot poster and painting competition was held at Guru Nanak Dev University, regional campus.
Students from various departments participated in the event. The theme for the competition was - 'Life and times of Guru Nanak Dev Ji'. Keeping the theme in mind, the participants made posters and paintings related to Guru's life and teachings.
Dr Deep Kamal Randhawa, from the department of Engineering and Dr Varinder Singh, of the department of Laws were the judges of the event.
Harshdeep Kaur stood first. Palak Bansal, and Harleen Kaur, won the second and third prize respectively.
Canada's Dual Degree
Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Dual Degree in Canada's academic institutions will be launched so that the students of both the countries can complete their degree in the field of higher education in any country. These views expressed Canada Embassy's councilor General Miss Mian Yeon did. He was addressing the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pratap Singh in the meeting. The name of the campus is illuminated. Derbyshire county councillor Kewal Singh Athwal on Monday paid a visit to Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) He discussed various issues for enhancement of international links in the field of higher education,tourism and research. Welcoming Kewal Athwal, Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu along with other senior of the university sald. GNDU ranked 2nd in North Zone Youth Festival
GNDU was awarded 2nd Prize by Punjab Unviversity Chandigarh on the occasion of 34th North Zone Youth Fest. Students from 36 Universities from Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttrakhand and U.P. participated in this festival. The events were related to Dance, Music, Theatre and Fine Arts.
Asst. Prof. Awarded Best Employee Award with Disabilty
Asst. Prof. Mona Goel was awarded Best Employee with Disabilty on World Disability Day at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The award was presented by Hon'ble Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. She has been teaching in GNDU Regional Campus since 2007.
Achievers of Campus Placement Drive 2018-19
This year on-campus placement drive is going great just as every year. 30+ students have already been placed from our campus till october 2018. Companies like TCS, Capegemini, KPMG, Ernst & Young, Nagarro, Software AG, SAP Labs, Xenon Stack, Infogain etc. have visted till now. More companies are arriving in coming months and More placement offers are expected.
Acuity Mock Placement Drive -2018
Students of B.Tech. department under the aegis of faculty members, Dr. Deep Kamal Randhawa and Dr. Sheetal Kalra organized a Mock Placement Drive under the tag ACUITY to help polish students for their upcoming placements. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Dean Student Welfare and Academic Affairs motivated the students for the same. Students from 1st, 2nd and 3rd years participated in the three day event. Day 1: Aptitude & Technical Tests, Day 2: Group Discussion, Day 3: Personal Interview. Day 3's personal interview was divided into HR round and Technical round. The HR round was invigilated by Dr. Charan Kamal and Dr. Harmandar Kaur and Technical round by Mr. Inderpal Singh and Ms. Kalpana. Four winners were declared - Karamjeet Singh (3rd year CSE), Mudit Parmar (3rd year CSE), Ayush Sethi (3rd year CSE) and Ayush Khanna (1st year CSE). The whole event was very well conducted by the student organizers: Aastha Ratti, Mohit Gupta, Kanvi Parashar, Vaibhav Chadda, Manpreet Singh.

The universities was assessed for toilets adequacy and maintenance, garbage clearance system, hostel kitchen hygiene and sophistication of equipment, water purity, storage, distribution facility, campus greenery and rainwater harvesting, use of solar systems and villages or neighbourhood adoption for hygiene.

TechFest 2k18
The Technical Students' Society of the campus proudly presented the annual technical festival on 6th April 2018. High levels of competence and dexterity were showcased in the 'Techfest 2018' by the future engineers from the host campus and from various institutes. All the participants got an opportunity to explore their niche by running codes in Java, flagging opponents in CS 1.6, facing time crunch in Robotic Obstacle Race, tiding up the thought process for Knowledge Mash etc. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, the worthy Dean, while motivating the students to give their best emphasized the fact that along with the theoretical aspects the budding engineers need to polish their practical know how via the event. The technical & co-curricular incharges, Dr DeepKamal Randhawa & Dr Harminder Singh also motivated all the participants & wished them good luck.
GNDU improves ranking,MHRD list puts it at 59
Improving its ranking from last year,GNDU has been ranked 59 in the all-India university ranking released under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on Tuesday.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Sandhu said "We have improved from our last year's rankings. We shall be working towards making the university as one of the best across the globe,î he said.
