The Campus is located on the Jalandhar-Amritsar Highway about 3 kms from the PAP Chowk. Fulfilling the demands of people of Doaba region for quality education, Guru Nanak Dev University established its Regional campus at Jalandhar in 1979 with English, Punjabi and Law departments.

Open Mic in GNDU Media Dept

Jalandhar December 6 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at GNDU Regional Campus at Ladhewali here organized an Open Mic today. Participants gave their performances in poetical recitation, singing and mimicry with great enthusiasm. The event was organized by students of the department led by Koshal, Prabhjot and Rahul. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus and Dr. Rupam Jagota, Head, Department of Laws were the Chief Guests on the occasion. They were felicitated with potted plants by the students and faculty of the department. Welcoming the guests, Dr Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department, said that such events are the life of any campus and gives an opportunity to the students to showcase their talents. Sukh, Jass, Abhi Arora and others sang melodious Punjabi and Hindi songs. Jivesh Rampal performed a soulful rap on girl child. Pratham mimicked voices of many film stars and politicians. All the participants enthralled the audience with their performances. Anchors of the show did not let the fun and fervor flag with their shayari, jokes etc. Certificates of appreciation were given to all the performers. Dr. Charan Kamal Walia, Ms. Sukriti, Ms. Savita and Mr. Rama Shanker were present on the occasion.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

The District Legal Service Authority, Jalandhar organized legal awareness programme under the umbrella of PAN India Awareness and Outreached Programme to celebrate "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav" and Legal Service week from 8th November, 2021 to 14th November, 2021. In this regard Shri. Bhupinder Mittal, CJJD/JMIC, delivered an online lecture to the students of Department of law, GNDU, (RC), Jalandhar. He enlightened students about the significance and scope of free legal aid. It was a healthy interactive session in which students questioned about their role and contribution for legal service. On this occasion Dr. Rupam Jagota, Head, Department of laws welcomed the key note speaker. This webinar ended successfully with the vote of thanks by Dr. Vanita Khanna.

National Press Day

Jalandhar November 16 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- National Press Day was celebrated in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Ladhewali here today to commemorate the establishment of PCI in 1966.On this occasion, Mr. Varinder Walia, Editor Punjabi Jagran, was the Guest of Honour. An exhibition on newspapers from different states was held, which was inaugurated by Mr. Walia. Old newspapers like Gadar, Khalsa Samachar, Hicky’s Gazette were also exhibited. Later, Mr Walia spoke about print media. He said that media’s credibility has degenerated and it is a challenge before budding journalists to restore it. The students should inculcate reading habits to enrich their vocabulary. He also answered the queries of the students.Earlier, Shubita, student of M.A. Jornalism and Mass Communication Semester-I, welcomed the guests. Dr. Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department, said she was optimistic about the future of print media. She also felicitated Mr Varinder Walia. Dr. Charan Kamal Walia, Ms. Savita, Ms Sukriti Bahuguna, Mr Rama Shankar were also present at the event.

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav

On the eve of commemorating the 75th year of India’s independence “Azadika Amrit Mahotsav”, Department of law, GNDU,RC Jalandhar organized PAN India Awareness and Outreached Programmes underthe patronaze of District legal Service Authority(DLSA).The GNDU RC,Jalandhar was assigned the task of raising Legal Awareness in various villages of district of Mehatpur and Noormahal by DLSA.Under the Headship of Dr.Rupam Jagota,two different teams of students were constituted under the governance of different faculty members.They visited various villages, Umar Kallan, Uppal Bhupa, Chuheki, Raipur, Mehsampur, BirBaloki, Khurlapur and Jago Sangha etc.These teams interacted with village sarpanches.For the purpose of spreading of legal awareness at grassroot level,these teams also interacted with the students in both primary and secondary schools.Villagers were also invited to enhance their knowledge and made aware about their legal rights and they were also enlightened about the functioning of Lok Adalats.

Celebration of the RTI Week

16 October, 2021 - Department of Laws, GNDU (RC), Jalandhar under the agies of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Jaspal Singh Sandhu and Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr.) Hardeep Singh, organized a webinar on the eve of the “Celebration of the Right to Information Week”. The webinar was moderated by Dr. Vanita Khanna. The Head of the Department, Dr. Rupam Jagota, on the behalf of the Faculty of law welcomed the key note speaker, Mr. H.C Arora, Sr. Advocate, P&H HighCourt, Chandigarh. He highlighted the procedural framework, abuses of RTI and various difficulties being faced by activist in getting the information from different departments. He also explored the role of State of Punjab in ensuring the protection of whistleblower. He also addressed the queries of the students on the various issues like training of Public Information Commissioner and reason of delay in getting the information from the concer nauthorities. The lecture delivered by Mr. H.C Arora was very thought provoking. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, DAA & DSWA, and faculty members are also present. Dr. Varinder Singh, Assistant Professor extended the vote of thanks to the worthy speaker.

NSS Camp at GNDU Campus

7 October, 2021 - Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus, Jalandhar - One day NSS camp from the NSS unit of Engineering and Technology Department under the supervision of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra and Dr. Manjeet Singh. In this one day NSS camp there was Poster Making Competition on social topics like Female Foeticide, Drug Abuse and AIDS Awareness etc. in which Aryan Dhingra bagged 1st position, Rohit Bains bagged 2nd position and Harjot Kaur bagged 3rd position.Dr. Deepkamal Kaur Randhawa, Dr. Harmandar Kaur and Dr. Himali were the Judges of the competition. Dr. Nitika Soni, Dr. Vineet Grewal, Dr. Pankajdeep Kaur, Paramjit Kaur and Naveen Kumar were also present in the event.

NSS Camp at GNDU Campus

1 October, 2021 - Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus, Jalandhar - NSS camp from the NSS unit of Engineering and Technology Department under the supervision of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra and Dr. Manjeet Singh. Program started with planting of saplings. Dr. Manjeet Singh said " We should plant more trees in order to protect our environment. " Students also took pledge to plant more trees. On this auspicious occasion Dr. Deepkamal Kaur Randhawa, Dr. Sheetal Kalra, Dr. Varinder Kaur Attri, Dr. Vineet Grewal, Dr. Harmandar Kaur, Dr. Nitika Soni, Dr. Varinder Singh, Paramjit Kaur, Dr. Komal, Dr. Nirmla Devi Etc were involved in the event.

Students selected for jobs

August 25 2021, Four students from the engineering and technology department, have been selected by two companies before completion of the course. Two students Sachin Mehta and Utkarsh Dhiman will get 5 lakh per annum, the other two students Seerat Kaur and Pranshu Sharma will get 5.3 lakh per annum. The companies have also promised to give a stipend to students during their training period. The students received the offer letters from the dean Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra. Dr Himali Sarangal, Dr Vinit Grewal and Dr Varinder Kaur Attri Joined to congratulate the students.

Online Sketching and Slogan Writing Competition at GNDU Campus

Jalandhar June 23 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- In the series of activities held to commemorate the 400th Prakash Utsav of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji, an Inter Department Online Sketching and Slogan Writing Competition was held at Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus at Ladhewali here today. Students from various departments of the Campus participated enthusiastically in the competition and showcased their creativity.
The theme of the competition was the Life and Teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.The slogans were mainly taken from the Bani of Guru Ji. Nishant, Swamjit Kaur and Harman from the Department of Laws, bagged First, Second and Third positions respectively. Amandeep Kaur from the same department was given consolation prize.
Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, said that the teachings of the Guru Ji are relevant even in the modern times and students should learn from his life and teachings. He exhorted students to follow his footsteps and imbibe his values.

International Yoga Day Celebrated at GNDU Regional Campus on 21 June

International Yoga Day was celebrated at GNDU Regional Campus at Ladhewali here today. The online session was organized by NSS unit of the Department of Laws, GNDURC in association with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Department of Electronic and Computer Science, under the aegis of Worthy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jaspal Singh Sandhu and Dean Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Hardeep Singh. Mr. Sanjay Kundra, Head, Department of Physical Education, MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, Jalandhar was the resource person. He spoke about the importance and significance of yoga for human health and for the society. He explained and gave live demonstration of various asanas, along with his children.
Dr. Roopam Jagota, Head, Department of Laws, welcomed the guests and highlighted yoga as a way of life and explained its significance in bringing about harmony between body and mind for spiritual discipline . Dr. Komal K Mehta was the moderator for the session. He emphasized that yoga is a valuable gift of ancient Indian traditions and has changed our lifestyle. Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, stressed on man’s connection with nature, especially during the pandemic, through Yoga. Dr. Varinder Singh, Programme Officer, NSS Unit, delivered the vote of thanks. Faculty and students of various departments attended the online event.

Webinar on World Enviroment Day

Department of Laws, GNDU (RC), Jalandhar under the aegis of worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr) Jaspal Singh Sandhu and Dean Academic Affairs Prof. (Dr) Hardeep Singh, organized a webinar on the eve of the World Environment Day. 5th June 2021 is celebrated as the biggest annual event by the United Nations. The webinar was moderated by Dr Vanita Khanna. The Head of the Department, Dr Rupam Jagota, on the behalf of the faculty of law welcomed the keynote speaker, Prof. (Dr) Jaspal Singh, Principal, Khalsa College of Law, Amritsar and Former Head, Dept. of Law, GNDU, Amritsar. He highlighted the Constitutional basis of Environment Protection and Preservation to maintain a healthy sustainable balance in pandemic Covid-19 situation and explored the role of judiciary in ensuring the protection of the environment. Heal so addressed the queries of the students on the various issues like emerging threats to environment and disposal of dead bodies in the rivers etc. Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs and Student welfare of GNDU(RC), Jalandhar thanked the speaker for his discourse and in-depth analysis on environment. Dr Varinder Singh, Assistant Professor extended the vote of thanks.


Conference on the law and technology Held on May 21 & 22, 2021

The inaugural session of a two-day National Conference on Emerging Trends in Law and Technology (ETLT-2021) began on a virtual mode by the Department of Engineering and Technology and Department of Laws, GNDU Regional Campus, Ladhewali, here today. The conference includes a series of expert lectures and sessions dedicated towards understanding the inter-relationship between law and technology, under different categories and contexts. The conference has been organised under the guidance and patronage of Prof Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. In the inaugural ceremony, Prof Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, welcomed the chief guest, Prof Buta Singh Sidhu, Vice Chancellor, PTU Bathinda, and Guest of Honour, Justice Rajive Bhalla, Justice (Retd.) Punjab and Haryana High Court. Patron of the event, Prof Hardeep Singh, Dean Academics GNDU, presided over the function. Organising Secretaries of conference, Dr Deep Kamal Randhawa, Dr Butta Singh and Dr Varinder Singh welcomed and thanked all the participants. Various speakers emphasised on the holistic approach between technology, innovation, and resolving potential threats. Dr Rupam Jagota, Head, Department of Laws, Dr Namrata Joshi, Head Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and other faculty members were also present.


Declamation on teachings of 9th Guru

In a series of activities held to commemorate the 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Teg Bahadur, an Inter-Department Online Declamation Competition was held at Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus at Ladhewali here today. Students from various departments of the campus participated enthusiastically in the completion. The theme of the competition was the 'Life and Teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur'. Sandeep Kumari from the Department of Laws(LLB 2nd Semester) was declared first, Mehrdeep Sethi from the Department of Computer Sciences and Electronics(B.tech, 6th semester) came second and Umangdeep from Department of Computer Sciences and Electronics (B.tech, 2nd Semester) achieved the third position. Dr Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean of the Campus, said that the teachings of the Guru are relavant even in the modern times and students should learn from his life and teachings. Dr Pankaj Deep coordinated the online event Dr Namarta Joshi, Dr Harmandar Kaur and others attended the event.


TECH-ARENA 2021, a two-day online technical festival organised by GNDU Regional Campus Jalandhar

Department of Engineering and Technology, GNDU Regional Campus, Jalandhar organised a two day online Tech-Fest “Tech-Arena 2021” on 6th and 7th of May. The participants showed an overwhelming response with more than 600 registrations for various events like Pragmatic Hackathon, Code-combat, Mock GATE test, Mock Aptitude test, Tech out of Waste, Recursive Reels, Capture the Captcha, Ad- Mageddon and Pictionary. Certificates and rewards worth 2 lakh were awarded to winners and participants to encourage them. The students had a mind boggling experience in events such as Mock GATE test, Mock Aptitude test, Hackathon and Code-combat. The participants were enthralled and highly motivated by the technical events and it certainly created a lot of awareness and knowledge of the latest technologies. Tech-Arena’21 was successfully organised under the able guidance of Dr.Jyoteesh Malhotra, Head of Department, Engineering and Technology, and was coordinated by professional activities event teacher incharge and with student coordinator team of Tanmay Dewan, Pranshu Sharma, Ashwani Kumar , Utkarsh Dhiman, Neha Uppal,Palak Sharma, Bhumika Attri, Nehal Sharma, Vanita, Varun, Devansh Marwaha, Disha Sharma, Mahika Panesar, Umangdeep Kaur and Vishal Chauhan.

400th Prakash Utsav celebrated

An online was organised by Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Campus at Ladhewali here to commemorate the 400th Prakash Purb of Guru teg Bahadur. A lecture on the life and teachings of Guru Teg Bahadur and online competitions were held in which various colleges of the region participated with great fervour. The lecture delivered by Dr Gopal Singh Bhutta, an eminent scholar from Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. He recounted various episodes in the life of the guru which a reflection of his humane personality. He propagated the value of truth, Brotherhood and was an epitome of sacrifice. The faculty and students from all departments and institutions participated in the function. The lecture was followed by a presentation of entries of various competitions received by the campus — collage making, Shabad Gyan and poetry recitation.

Linux + Git and Github workshop

This workshop was organised on 16 March 2021 under the guidance of Dr Harmandar Kaur, Cocurricular activities incharge and under the able guidance of Dr. Jyoteesh Malhotra, Associate Dean. Students of third year Ashwani Kumar, Pranshu Sharma, Tanmay Dewan and Utkarsh Dhiman from the department of Engineering and Technology organised this workshop explaining Linux, Git and GitHub. 60+ participants attended the workshop and enjoyed learning topics. Students got familiar with elementary commands used in Command Line Interface enhancing their knowledge of the Command Line Interface environment. Git and GitHub learnings made them understand version control, by the end, they were excited about contributing to open source.
